I have not been in the city that I live in on my birthday in 10 years. I do this on purpose. It is going to be a tour which usually isn’t my style but I thought I’d give it a try this time. Highlights of the tour include:

    * Beijing
* Great Wall
* Forbidden City
* Xian
* Terracotta Warriors
* Shanghai

I haven’t been out of the country in over a year (gasp!) so I’m incredibly excited. This is also the first time I’ve ever planned a trip more than a month away. Spontaneous? Just a little bit. Other planned trips include:

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_XzhrMEkQk3c/Rxa61IMZbxI/AAAAAAAAAIE/MnJdexAKk9M/s320/LA2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5122487048075833106" />LA for the weekend this fall to visit an old friend and hopefully San Jose/San Fran and Boston. My favorite cities! Not including NYC of course. I’m afraid the days of never being in the same place for more than a month have almost come to an end. Maybe that’s a good thing. I haven’t decided yet or given up hope to live in all place at all times. Still waiting on some physicists to work that one out for me. Maybe 2008?

I’ve obtained my dream job! So, I can’t tell you what it is, but I can tell you it’s awesome (I know, I know sounds very Legally Blond!). Anyway, I spent the past few weeks in LA and Las Vegas and Boston as mentioned in my last post. I don’t have any pics of LA or Boston, yet, but I do have a few nice pictures of beautiful Las Vegas.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_XzhrMEkQk3c/Rg3QnMkOE0I/AAAAAAAAACk/2Di02bdZQBc/s320/DSC00456.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5047920129158812482" />

For many people, it’s hard to believe that I’ve been around the world, to six continents, over 40 countries, but have never been to Vegas until I was 25 years old. But like I tell everyone, it just wasn’t on the top of my priorities list. My idea of what Vegas would be like-old, whithered, burnt out cocktail waitresses and depressed and obsessed gamblers, hundreds of Elvis impersonators walking around the streets, and tons of “ladies of the night” on street corners or at the craps tables with their clients.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_XzhrMEkQk3c/Rg3QJ8kOEzI/AAAAAAAAACc/PF5mr2x9F8g/s320/DSC00439.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5047919626647638834" />Some of my preconceived notions about Vegas were correct, but mostly I found a very lively, interesting, and exciting town. So much to do and see. As I heard people say many times, Vegas is the Disneyland for grown-ups. I agree. It’s definitely a fantasy land. I’m back in Houston now and back to reality. Thank goodness I came home when I did, those penny slots at Ceasars almost convinced me to cash out my 401(k)!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_XzhrMEkQk3c/Rg3PoskOEyI/AAAAAAAAACU/D5nNmYxqiR4/s320/DSC00444.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5047919055416988450" />

Next post will be about how much I love LA!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_XzhrMEkQk3c/Rg3PQckOExI/AAAAAAAAACM/BGX7OrBlDE4/s320/DSC00442.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5047918638805160722" />

In the past two weeks, I’ve driven, with my car packed with every possession I have including my surfboard, from Boston, MA, through NYC, Washington D.C., Savannah, GA, down to Miami. From Miami I drove to Atlanta, GA, to stay with my best friend Rose then to Birmingham, Alabama and down to New Orleans for the 1st anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Took a tour of New Orleans, which I must add, is horrendous. Then I drove into Houston where my family lives. I can go no more! I stopped at my grandmother’s apartment and have been crashing here for three days. She’s got a great place in Houston with one caveat-it’s a retirement community. I’m like Cameron Diaz in that movie “In Her Shoes” and my gramma is Shirley MacLaine.

Once I get settled in, wherever that may be, I’ll upload pics of everywhere. Right now, in the fiasco that is the back of my Jeep, the cable for my camera is lost. I’m also planning a podcast, if I could only find my microphone. Hang tight! This girl is no longer living out of just her backpack, I’m living out of my car. My life used to be so simple!
